Sharkmob is a growing game developer with studios in London and Malmö, Sweden. Creativity, passion for craft, and innovation are hallmarks of our young company. 2.5 years into its founding, our London studio is working on an ambitious AAA title and has more than 80 developers. The London studio is growing fast & you’ll be joining at an exciting time, helping build the foundations of our Engineering Team.
Overview
We're looking for a UI Engineer to drive the UI and gameplay features between gameplay programmers, UI designers and artists. Collaborating with cross-functional teams & managing stakeholders across the studio. You need to be an experienced C++ engineer with experience of delivering in a AAA or similar professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the UI, Art and Game Design team to ensure UI meets functional and aesthetic requirements.
- Owning different areas of the UI Development including, HUD, In World Widgets, Menus, Settings and Accessibility.
- Liaise with other disciplines to reduce friction and streamline iteration.
- Work collaboratively & communicate effectively to maintain engineering excellence and high quality across our codebase.
- Continue to develop the skills of yourself and those around you, taking advantage of Sharkmob's L&D budget to keep up-to-date with industry innovations & best practices.
- Work closely with the production team to inform project timelines.
Requirements
- Proven track record as a UI programmer or similar on a shipped game
- A confident & skillful C/C++ programmer with experience of using C/C++ and Blueprints in a UI Engineering role or similar.
- You are experienced in the Unreal UMG Framework
- You have a developed sense for a good user experience and aesthetics of a game.
- High level of understanding of computer science fundamentals and mathematics.
- You have a passion for online games.
Bonus points:
- Experienced with UI architectures like MVVM or MVC
- Experienced with performance pitfalls and optimising UMG
