Malmö is where Sharkmob was originally founded in 2017. It’s centered in a region that transcends international borders and features endless possibilities. Cityscapes, lush green spaces, Baltic beaches, and more are all close together and easy to get to via public transit or the extensive network of bike lanes.

Our studio is just a few minutes’ walk from Malmö Central Station. There, you can catch a train further into Sweden — the university city of Lund, the port of Helsingborg, and the rural beauty of Ystad are all a short ride away. Or you can head right across the Öresund Bridge toward Denmark’s thriving metropolis of Copenhagen, stopping at Scandinavia’s largest international airport along the way.

People come here from around the globe. Malmö may be considered a small city by most, but its population of 350,000+ people is incredibly diverse and comprises over 180 nationalities. This creates a broad spectrum of experiences and opportunities that make Malmö such a special place to live and work.

Game development has become one of the most prominent industries in the Malmö area. Over 1,500 developers and more than 70 studios are based here. The city is home to the world-renowned vocational college The Game Assembly, the industry hub Game Habitat, and the Nordic Game conference every spring.

Our Malmö studio is located on the main square of the city’s historic old town section, putting some of the best shopping and dining in the area literally at our doorstep. It stretches through what was once the Oxie Härad Savings & Loan Bank and the Jörgen Kock Building — a place of innovation, enterprise, and commerce since 1522. The building came with two bank vaults that we’ve incorporated into our studio’s workspace — alongside cafeterias, meeting rooms, User Research lab, offices, and more — renovated in Scandinavian style, of course. But the Swedishness of working at Sharkmob Malmö goes beyond interior design. We embrace a soft management style utilizing a flat hierarchy as an organizational structure used throughout Sweden and other Nordic countries. It allows for open communication across teams and departments, as well as the sense of equality, trust, and freedom necessary for outstanding collaboration.
